Christie Wilson, M.Ed.
Elementary & Middle School Math Tutor, Executive Function Coach
Christie is a committed and passionate educator who has been teaching grades 5 through 8 since 2003, with a specialized focus on math support. With a deep understanding of the challenges many students face in math, she has dedicated her career to helping learners build confidence through a strong foundation in the fundamentals.
To better meet individual student needs, Christie worked closely with colleagues to develop and implement a flipped classroom math program. This innovative approach allows students to engage with instructional content at their own pace outside of class, reserving valuable classroom time for personalized, one-on-one support and small group work.
The result is a learning environment where students feel seen, supported, and empowered to take ownership of their progress. Using this same approach with tutoring will allow students to truly engage with math challenges while working 1:1.
Through this model, Christie has created a space where math anxiety is replaced with curiosity and confidence—proving that with the right support, every student can succeed.
A graduate of Randolph-Macon College, Christie began her teaching journey by student teaching in Hanover County, where she first discovered a talent for connecting with middle-grade learners. Committed to deepening her impact in education, Christie went on to earn a Master’s degree in Education from Johns Hopkins University.
Outside of the school day, Christie spends time with her two sons and husband…and their two crazy dogs!
