A ruling went into effect on January 1, 2022 called the “No Surprises Act” which requires
all health care practitioners to provide a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) to any individual
who does not have insurance or wishes to utilize a self-pay service. A Good Faith
Estimate (GFE) is a document that provides an estimated cost of service for any
therapeutic services that are provided at Be. Emotional Health. The purpose of this
estimate is to help individuals understand the potential costs of care before they receive
treatment. The estimate is developed based on the anticipated needs of each client at
the time of service, but the actual cost of treatment may vary depending on the
complexity of treatment needs and progress in therapy.
- You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of
any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical
tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. - Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing
at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask
your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith
Estimate before you schedule an item or service. - If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you
can dispute the bill. - Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
- A health care provider is not required to issue a Good Faith Estimate if the
appointment or services are scheduled less than 3 business days in advance. In
this case, the patient would have to request a Good Faith Estimate. - Please contact Be. Emotional Health at (804) 206-9283 if you are uninsured or
not using insurance and would like to request a Good Faith Estimate.
